5 ways to meet change head one

One of the constants in life is change yet it is one of those things we fear most.  Why? Fear of the unknown, past expectations, past failures, being found out? the list could go on and on, but that is not what gets us through fear change, that's what keeps us in the past. So how do we move forward?

1. Start fresh

Every opportunity for change is a chance for a fresh start with no baggage, no coulda woulda should as, no maybes. It's a new adventure with its own rules, its own experience, and its own possibilities. Which leads into number 2.

2. Let go of the past

Easier said than done I'm sure, but not impossible. Is the past serving you today? If it's making you fearful of moving toward your future the answer is a resounding yes. Our past does not define us, it gives us tools to possible make the future better or gives you experience to have more knowledge. Nothing more nothing less. Failure is a learning too just as much as success

3. Believe in the possibilities

The story you are telling yourself about what the future could be if you succeed is as relevant as the story you tell yourself if you fail. The truth is that it is probably somewhere in between but most likely nothing you've even imagined. So you can spend your time worrying or spend your time dreaming - dreaming with action is much more possible than fearing with no action.

4. Jump

The water is coldest when you first jump in, and then your body acclimates to its new surroundings. When we move outside of our safety zones we have the same physical reaction of being uncomfortable. Know that's only for the moment because you've taken the plunge, but it will get better.

5.  Enjoy the ride

It is not the destination that is going to make you happy, it is enjoying the process that will keep you happy and satisfied. There should be no end, because then you would just get board. Your end should always be improving. Read the Mindset, the New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck. And if you can't enjoy the ride, then work on being happy with today because in the end, success or failure, we can only be happy if we choose to no matter what.
